Häufig gestellte Fragen

Choosing someone to redesign your home, workspace, or hospitality space—especially with accessibility in mind—can feel like a big step. This FAQ is here to make things simpler.

Below you’ll find clear answers to the questions people most often ask before working with Lumini Interiors: how virtual sessions work, who our services are for, what happens during a Virtual Accessibility Review, and what to expect in terms of pricing, timelines, and support.

Core FAQs (general)

1. Who do you work with?

I work with busy homeowners, people living with disabilities or chronic illness, families who need more accessible layouts, and small hospitality or community spaces that want to become more inclusive.
Whether you’re updating a single room, rethinking your whole home, or improving guest experiences, I shape the scope around your needs, budget, and energy.

2. Do I have to be in London to work with you?
No. Many of my services are available virtually.
I offer online consultations and Virtual Accessibility Reviews for clients across the UK and internationally. For turnkey projects and on-site assessments, I primarily cover Greater London and nearby areas, but I’m happy to discuss travel for specific projects.

3. What makes Lumini Interiors different from other interior designers?
Lumini is rooted in the lived experience of disability, not just design trends or compliance checklists.
I combine professional interior design with an understanding of mobility, fatigue, sensory needs, and chronic illness. The goal is always the same: spaces that feel beautiful, intuitive, and dignified for everybody—not just “technically accessible.”

4. I rent my home. Can you still help me?
Yes. I regularly work with renters and people who can’t make major structural changes.
We focus on reversible, landlord-friendly adjustments—like layout changes, lighting, furniture, storage, and small accessibility tweaks—that can make a big difference without damaging walls or fixtures.

5. I’m not sure what I need yet. Where should I start?
If you’re unsure where to begin, the best starting point is a 60–90 min Virtual Accessibility Review.
We’ll walk through your space together, talk about your needs and challenges, and identify practical changes you can make right away. You’ll leave with clarity and a simple plan, whether or not you choose a larger design project afterwards.

FAQs about the Virtual Accessibility Review

6. What happens during a Virtual Accessibility Review?
A Virtual Accessibility Review is a 60–90 minute video call where we look at your space together using photos, a quick walkthrough, or floor plans.
We’ll discuss how you currently use the space, what feels difficult or tiring, and what you’d like to change. I’ll highlight barriers, suggest layout and furniture adjustments, and recommend realistic, budget-aware improvements. After the call, you’ll receive a short written summary of key actions and suggestions.

7. What do I need to prepare for the review?

Before the session, I’ll ask you to share:

  • A few photos or a simple video of the space

  • Any measurements you already have (don’t worry if they’re rough)

  • A short note about your needs, diagnosis, or accessibility priorities (only what you’re comfortable sharing)

This helps us use our time together to focus on solutions rather than gathering basics.

8. Is the Virtual Accessibility Review only for disabled people?

No. It’s for anyone who wants their space to work better for real bodies and real lives.
That includes people with disabilities or chronic illness, families with children, older adults, and hospitality or community spaces that want to be more welcoming and inclusive. Accessibility benefits everyone.

9. Will you give me a shopping list or just ideas?

You’ll always leave with concrete, practical next steps.
Depending on the session and your budget, that might include:

  • Specific layout changes

  • Types of furniture, fixtures, or equipment to look for

  • Suggestions for lighting, color, and materials
If you’d like a more detailed sourcing list or full design package, we can discuss that as a follow-on service.

FAQs about process, pricing, and logistics

10. How much does it cost to work with Lumini Interiors?

I’ve structured services so you can choose the level of support that fits your budget.

  • Short virtual consultations start from around £50

  • 60–90 min Virtual Accessibility Reviews are a higher-touch session with follow-up notes

  • Design-only and turnkey projects are quoted individually based on the size of your space, level of accessibility work, and how much support you need

You’ll always receive a clear proposal before we begin.

11. How long does a typical project take?

Timelines vary depending on the service:

  • Virtual consultations and reviews: usually booked and completed within 1–3 weeks

  • Design-only projects: often 3–6 weeks from onboarding to final design package

  • Turnkey installations: typically 8–16 weeks, depending on scope, sourcing, and contractor availability

We’ll agree a realistic timeline together before we start.

12. Can you work with my existing furniture and décor?

Absolutely. Wherever possible, I try to adapt and reconfigure what you already own before suggesting new purchases.
We’ll look at layout, positioning, and small adjustments first, then identify any key pieces that might need to change to improve access, comfort, or safety.

13. Do you only design in a “clinical” accessibility style?

No. The whole point of Lumini is to move away from clinical, institutional-looking spaces.
I focus on calm, contemporary interiors that feel warm, grounded, and beautiful—while quietly integrating accessibility features like better circulation, supportive seating, and sensory-aware choices.

14. I feel overwhelmed and a bit embarrassed about my space. Is that normal?

Yes—and you’re not alone. Many clients come to me feeling frustrated, tired, or ashamed that their space “doesn’t work.”
My role is not to judge your home or business; it’s to understand your reality and help you create a space that supports you. We move at your pace, with compassion and zero perfectionism.
